WA Public Holiday Information
Many states in Australia have public holidays that are unique to their state. In Western Australia they recognise Western Australia Day on the first Monday of June each year. Western Australia Day was formerly known as Foundation Day and celebrates the founding of the Swan River Colony in 1829. This holiday occurs at a similar time to the Queen's Birthday holiday, which the rest of the country celebrates in June. In Western Australia the Queen's Birthday holiday is moved to September / October instead.
